Devotion For Day 12
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil
Author, Brian Edwards, says: “One of the greatest benefits of revival lies in its effects upon human relationships. In society, those converted to Christ are reconciled not only to God but to neighbors, workmates, and others. Family feuds are healed, gossiping and slanderous tongues are silenced and class and social barriers are pulled down. The gospel that makes us ‘all one in Christ Jesus’ and the Savior, in whom there is ‘neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female’ (Gal. 3:28), unite those who are unnecessarily divided.”
As believers, we long to see Jesus invade our culture; but, are we earnestly and urgently asking Him to transform it? Imagine what society might look like if Christian communities in every town and city would come together to seek His face in unity for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and for every believer to actively share the love of Christ with the lost!
God of endurance and encouragement, please help us to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, so that together we may give glory to You! Help us to welcome one another as Jesus Christ has welcomed us, for Your glory Lord! (From Romans 15:5-7) Give us the hearts of harvesters, who plant, water, cultivate, and harvest. May we long for the life-giving love that attracts the lost to You and may we earnestly engage in Your work to seek and save them (Luke 19:10).
